A sad loss at a relatively young age.
He was in several early Dennis Potter productions, and sang in some of them. He always wanted to be a singer. Then Minder and The Sweeney took him in quite a different direction. Also notable was the comedy series On the Up with the magnificent Joan Sims. And of course the brilliance of New Tricks. Incidentally, he and Amanda Redman had once been an item before that show, showing what professionals they were.
