Love Party (band)
From Wikipedia
Love Party was an Australian underground musical group that performed on the local band scene in Sydney and Newcastle from 1982 to 1984. Originally called the Leboyer Boys (after Frederick Leboyer), the band formed to create a birth-inducement cassette tape for their pregnant friend, Cath. The Mum Song was composed on a Suzuki omnichord in the lounge room of the band's meeting place at 60 Ridge Street, Surry Hills (in Sydney).
Members included Tyler Coppin, Miss Victoria Harbutt, Ian Spence, Paul Hester and Stephen Rae. Part time members included Jonathan Jones (The Rockmelons), Megan Donnolley and Peter Timmerman (Cheatin' Hearts), and the band also occasionally featured comedians such as Mark Little (Australian actor). Love Party's first performance was as a support for Do-Re-Mi (band) at Stranded nightclub (Sydney) in October 1982.
In 1984 John Duigan's Australian movie One Night Stand (Film) featured most of Love Party's members. Tyler Coppin played one of the leading roles, and the film also included an uncredited Paul Hester as "US Officer". In the same year, a demo tape of their song "Dance to Rhythm of Christ" was given extensive airplay on radio stations in Sydney and Brisbane. The band eventually broke up, its members pursuing separate interests in theatre, music, dance, and film. Love Party's drummer Paul Hester joined the band, Split Enz.
I can't say I've heard of them before (except for Paul Hester of course) nor seen any other info on them, so I'm not really sure it's the band you're thinking of.
