Can anyone help me identify a song and band name please
« on: Thu 30 Apr 2009 21:46:30 »
Hi everyone,

Hope you can give me a hand.  I have a load of songs on tape that I scored off the radio from the 80's, and have managed to identify nearly all of them.  But this one I have never been able to identify.

I'm pretty sure it's late 80's (perhaps 88 or 89), pretty sure it's Australian - a band like Little Heroes, but not.  I've always thought the track was called 'The Traveller'.

Like the wind I'm born to roam, make the road a dusty home
Caught a thousand rides last year, left behind a million tears
On a goal to new horizons, seen it written in the sand
Captured by a wild confession, to break your heart behind/beyond? the stand

Chorus
Oh Baby, can't you see it's in my heart, to roam, never staying long,
oh baby, hope to find a brand new start, oh baby, where did I go wrong.

Touch the magic in the day, I found the perfect place to stay
Found a lover warm and true, maybe someone just like you
Don't feel sad, it's time to go, the wind is right, the sun is low
One last kiss, our last chance, to win this fairytale romance

Chorus
Oh Baby, can't you see it's in my heart, to roam, never staying long,
oh baby, hope to find a brand new start, oh baby, where did I go wrong.

Don't feel sad, it's time to go, the wind is right, the sun is low
One last kiss, our last chance, to win this fariytale romance

Chorus
Oh Baby, can't you see it's in my heart, to roam, never staying long,
oh baby, hope to find a brand new start, oh baby, where did I go wrong,
oh baby, don't you see it's in my heart, it's in my heart, to roam, never staying long, oh baby....

Thanks :D

Well you got the name right :D

"The Traveller" by the Oz band Big Red (formerly known as Big) released in 1982. Their first single release - not that they lasted too much longer afterwards!!

You'll find this track on Tom's Blog ...

There is also a music clip on YouTube ...

A bit too Doobie Brothers-ish to my ears.

Cheers

I posted to my other thread asking for help identifying a song.

Thanks.

I just noticed the clip on YouTube was only put up a few days ago, and it was posted by Chris Lloyds himself (lead vocalist for Big Red et al). He must have known you were looking for it :D :D

Cheers

Hi Motcher76

Well, I've got all that now. Thanks.

Yes, some sort of serendipity on Chris Lloyds posting the Big Red clip to you tube.  I had tried you tube before, of course.

I hope you don't mind me saying, and I say it with the greatest of respect... but you must be more of an 80's tragic than I am!!

Cheers

Yes, guilty. Tragically lost in the 80's; but I wear it as a badge of honour. But there are a few others on the Forum as well, so I feel quite at home here. Then of course we also have Hector - just plain tragic, full stop ;D

Cheers

And I always thought that this song was by Cristopher Cross, (Chris Cross). Well bugger me!
I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

It's funny you say that.  I was pretty sure it was Australian, but it is very Christopher Cross-ish, and I did chase that possibility.  Never turned up as one of his songs, of course.  That was when it was driving me nuts as to who it was.  I luuuuuuuuuv this forum.
