We use a L@gitech USB desktop mic for our Skype calls. Voice quality is excellent.

Headset mics, with earphones are great for echo-cancelling and private chats. But a desktop mic, and computer speakers are so much more comfortable and less restricting to use. The trick for reducing echoes is to have your speakers voulme set as low as practicable so that you mic is not repeating what it hears from the speakers. Proper placement of speakers helps reduce echo and feedback also.

If we want a private chat, we still use the desktop mic, but use a separate bluetooth earpiece.

cheers ....kimbo
